Eddie Stobart becomes sole haulage contractor for Forest Garden next month, involving more than 700 truck movements a week. The contract is for weekly distribution to 2,000 stockists of Forest and Lachlap timber garden products. Stobart has started an international haulage contract with Flexsys, which supplies chemicals to the rubber industry. It will take 15-to-20 loads a week of products from Wrexham to the Vopak-run global distribution centre near Antwerp. The work was done by Ewals Cargo Care.
Stobart provides a 24/7 despatch service that eliminates the need for warehousing on-site. Stobart divisional director Lee Durose says that commercial export volumes are picking up. Possible reasons are that some firms have either fallen by the wayside or are not providing the service the customers want.
