Fruehauf has dramatically increased its sales this year to more than 500 tippers, marketing director David Tallent says. The former Fruehauf company typically sold 350 tippers a year.
The increase has been achieved by concentrating just on tippers and by launching a range of lighter, smooth-sided bodies to sell alongside its traditional bathtub design.
Tallent says that 40% of production is smoothsiders. Sales have also been boosted by a change in distributor. Last year Newton Commercials resigned as agent for Fruehauf's main rival for smooth-sided bodies, Stas.
DG Taylor Commercial Vehicles of Driffield, North Humberside, continues to cover sales in the north.
Fruehauf says it will announce new products next year.
