H and L Garages, the Mercedes-Benz dealer, has been bought by the management from PD Ports Group in a deal worth £8.5m. MD Brett Whittingham and financial director Peter Worsnup have bought the business with finance from Endless LLP. The dealer has six sites, stretching from York to Boston and has been Mercedes-Benz Dealer of the Year four times.
Endless director Phillip Tate said H and L "is ideally positioned to become the number one Mercedes-Benz franchise". The new owners joined the
business in 2003. They opened the York site and have refurbished three others. It had become increasingly clear that H and L didn't fit into PD's core business in ports and shipping, and the buy-out comes as little surprise.
