Renault has shown the first pictures of the Maxity, its version of the new Nissan Cabstar. The newcomer, which goes on sale at Renault Truck dealers from next March, will be available only as a 3.5-tonner in the UK. Buyers get to choose from three engine sizes.
Bruce Allison, Renault Trucks marketing director, explains that the rear-wheel drive Maxity is not going to compete with its 3.5-tonne Master. "The Maxity will be incremental and not substitutional," he tells MT.
And on the subject of whether to buy a Renault Maxity or an almost identical Nissan Cabstar, Allison explains that Maxity buyers will be able to take advantage of Renault's "truck-orientated high levels of service", whereas Cabstar buyers will have to make do with "more car-orientated levels of service at Nissan dealers".
