Andrew Wallace of Blagrove Fleet has told us: "We have worked with Protekdor to offer insurance discounts  for those operators who fit its security devices. Insurers are prepared to offer a discount if the truck operator fits a security system. The discount varies according to the device fitted and fleet size. Theft is not a peril that causes truck insurers to worry too much as it is not that common. However, our argument to the insurer is that those operators who fit these devices are a better type of risk because they are taking a positive approach to risk management as well as the fact that the theft risk is reduced.

"We have a number of insurers that will offer discounts and I would be happy to discuss this with any interested parties." I also believe that hauliers are often reluctant to change insurance brokers. Maybe the finger of blame should point to those brokers who do not shop around to gain the best deal for their customers.
