Bowring Transport buys Whitkirk Waste Solutions

09 November 2006

Bowring Transport, of Warsop, Notts, has acquired North Yorkshire waste firm Whitkirk Waste Solutions.

Whitkirk specialises in removing food and drink industry waste for recycling onto the land. It was part of the Whitkirk Produce group of companies whose O-licence was revoked  earlier in the year for tacho offences.

This association did not deter Bowring. MD David Bowring says: "It was a small consideration but I spoke to Whitkirk's customers and they were happy with the service they were getting.

"If you've got satisfied customers then that's a good place to start building from," he adds.

Bowring, which operates 60 trucks on bulk tipping and general haulage work, will run Whitkirk's operation from its current Easingwold site.

The purchase includes the fleet of 15 trucks and specialised vacuum tankers and tippers 20 staff will also transfer to Bowring.

Bowring Group also includes considerable farming interests which might dovetail with Whitkirk's agricultural recycling operation.
