A Pembrokshire haulier is celebrating its first year in business by breaking through the million-pound barrier on its turnover.
Jay Davidson Haulage, trading as MegaDrive, is based in Pembroke Dock. It has attracted high-profile customers such as Eddie Stobart and Tesco, helping to push its turnover past £1.1m.
Steve Davidson, the company's founder, says: "We've expanded very fast in our first year and are continuing to grow. Our current base is being extended and we're looking into purchasing warehousing facilities in the West Midlands region."
The company is working together with Entrepreneur Action, a company that provides help to novice businessmen through the Welsh Assembly Government's High Growth Program. Entrepreneur Action has provided a business mentor to advise Jay Davidson Haulage about its expansion plans.
Having started life with just one truck, bought for £4,000, Davidson now runs 12 44-tonners with the 13th on its way. Apart from one vehicle which is in service for Stobart, they are painted black and have been named after Harley Davidson models.
Davidson, who is also a founder of the Harley Davidson Club Wales, believes this gives the company a distinctive look.
