Healthy figures for QTR despite bad debt

16 November 2006

QTR Transport managed to increase its turnover and profit last year, despite writing off a bad debt of more than £50,000.

The Reading-based company boosted its post-tax profit from £165,000 in 2004 to £191,000 in the financial year ending 31 December 2005. Turnover increased from £7.5m to £8.2m.

MD Paul White says: "It's a difficult trading environment at the moment and fuel  and wages are taking most people's profit, ours included. We are fairly pleased with the results considering the current climate and the fact that we [had to write off] a bad debt of around £56,000 in the year."

QTR bought Basingstoke-based Priddys Transport in July. White says: "We're still integrating both companies but it is working very well."
