Police call for Better Visibility on Foreign Trucks

16 November 2006

A senior policeman wants it to be mandatory for overseas trucks to have two mirrors on the off-side. Chief Inspector Nigel Brown told BBC South East that one mirror could be used to cover the off-side blind spot. "That would make a big difference," he said. He said that the Police are seeing an increasing number of accidents caused by poor mirrors on many foreign lorries. The report also said that traffic police are meeting with the crown prosecution service this week to try to work out a way  to make foreign drivers accountable when they pull out without being able to see properly and cause an accident.
