Chris Waite Transport has UK's 1st Volvo FH16-580

23 November 2006

Chris Waite Transport, aged 25 this year, has taken the UK's first Volvo FH16-580 with the engine delivering 2,800Nm at 1,200 rpm. The Euro 4 tractor has a 4.1m wheelbase and I-Shift. The Driffield, Yorkshire-based haulier says the truck is using 3-to-4% AdBlue to diesel. It is pulling what is perhaps the last word in livestock haulage: an £80,000, multi-deck, air-suspended trailer with lightweight aluminium planking an automated drinking and feeding system designed for all types  of livestock forced ventilation hydraulically lifting roof and infra-red remote control for the decks, tailgate and air-suspension. "We operate at the high value, high image end of the market," says Chris Waite. Much of the livestock is organically farmed. The firm operates 24/7. "All our customers want something different and care for the animals is paramount for all of them," Waite says.
