Oban Express is to expand its fleet

30 November 2006

Oban Express has added three new Mercedes-Benz Sprinters to its 37-strong fleet. The Argyll-based express delivery company, which purchased its first Sprinter a decade ago, describes the vans as "best-in-class in terms of driver comfort, payload efficiency and reliability".

Partner Walker Owens admits that "Mercedes vans can be a little bit more expensive up-front compared to rivals", but claims that the company is able to recoup this premium over the medium and long term through lower  operating costs and high residual values. The vans, which are fitted with Luton box bodies by LVB Coachbuilders of Bathgate, will cover an average of 60,000 miles per annum while carrying parcels throughout Scotland.
