Drivers at the Kraft Foods factory in Banbury, Oxon are expected to lift their threat of industrial action when they are presented with a new pay offer on Sunday 4 June.
The 17 drivers, who deliver foodstuffs throughout the UK, are all employees of DHL Exel Supply Chain, the contract logistics arm of DHL.
Alan Lewis, regional organiser of the Transport & General Workers Union, says the initial pay offer would have added 40p to the basic hourly rate of 7.80: "That offer included changes
to working times at night which would have created a certain amount of flexibility for the company.
"We've now adopted a different approach where we're talking about a fairly straightforward pay increase with a view to talking about other aspects after that has been agreed," he explains. Lewis is recommending that the drivers should accept the new offer, but will not reveal details until after the meeting.
