Putting biodiesel on trial

14 December 2006

TM Logistics, part of Taylors of Martley, is trialling the use of biodiesel on five of its 150 vehicles. The firm, based in Pembridge, Worcs, is using 95% biodiesel and 5% conventional diesel over a six-month period to make sure there are no long-term maintenance problems.

Fleet manager Adam Purshall says: "We are carrying out limited trials, which started this month, for environmental rather than cost-cutting purposes."

In fact, Purshall says that the use of the fuel is "cost-neutral"  as any saving made will be offset by increased maintenance of the filters.

TM Logistics is an independent subsidiary of Taylors of Martley, employing more than 350 people in 16 depots with warehouses across the UK. Clients include Rexam and Coca-Cola Enterprises.
