Within five years ATS will be the only CV service provider owned by a tyre manufacturer, according to Michael Nyren, Continental's brand manager truck and remould.
Speaking to MT, he says: "Tyre manufacturers are struggling to make them profitable. We walked away from National Tyres five years ago and the number of Central Tyres (Pirelli) and Hi-Q (Goodyear) branches are diminishing." But he believes ATS is "here to stay" because Michelin continues to heavily invest in it.
Michelin says it will intensify its fight against Asian, European and American tryre manufacturers who copy its tread patterns.
