Wrekin Construction is the first UK operator to take delivery of a fleet of new generation Sprinter crewcab vans. The Shropshire-based company, which started buying Mercedes-Benz vans in 2005, has taken delivery of 12 medium length 311CDI seven-man crewcabs with Ingimex-built tipper bodies. The vans have been warmly welcomed by Wrekin Construction's plant and transport director Peter Greenwood, who also doubles-up as the group health and safety director.
He praises the van's four doors, as opposed to its predecessor which had just three. "Not only is the four-door configuration more convenient, it's also safer" he says. "In the event of an accident you really want your personnel to be able to get out of the doors as quickly as possible." All are fitted with towbars and digital tachographs.
