The Alternative Parcels Company reports turnover and profit growth in the year to March 31, 2006. Pre-tax profit grew by 8% to £1.4m in 2006 from £1.3m in 2005 while operating profit rose to £1.5m from £1.3m. Turnover climbed 9.3% to £40m in 2006. "I am very pleased with the results and am indebted to the depot network and their continued success," says MD Quentin Abel. "There is a feeling of quietly going from strength to strength."
Wolverhampton-based APC provides a trunking and sorting service for parcels and freight which are delivered and collected nationally by partner businesses. The directors say that despite competition they anticipate continuing progress and growth. To cope with the demand for services the company opened a second site next to its main premises during the 2006 financial year. Employee costs rose to £3.3m from £3.0m. Directors' emoluments were worth £176,382 in 2006, a dip from the 2005 payment of £185,417.
