Transrent's collapse has allowed the Cartwright Group to expand its rental operation and strengthen its management team.
The group had been leasing Transrent trailers since 1998 and has now brought back 600 trailers which will be absorbed into its Cartwright Rental operation at Wythenshawe, near Manchester.
Expansion of Cartwright Rental, which specialises in the lease, rental and maintenance of its fleet, had been planned before Transrent collapsed but director Steven Cartwright says the move "has enabled us to enhance the operation by giving us an instant, large spot-hire rental fleet on top of our long-term leased trailers".
The group has taken on key Transrent staff to help push its newly enlarged operation including former Transrent operations director Phil Rodman and former Transrent Manchester operations manager Colin Ryan.
Cartwright says he was not surprised by Transrent's collapse as he had been involved in some of the last-ditch refinancing talks.
