Palletforce, the UK's fourth-largest pallet network, continued to enjoy high margins last year, with a £1.5m pre-tax profit on a turnover of £5.8m.
This was an increase in turnover of almost 16% on 2005's results, and a 22% boost in profits. The network's latest accounts show turn-over comprised £5.8m generated in the UK and just £24,000 from its overseas operations.
Staff numbers also increased last year, with management increasing by 50% to 12, another director being appointed and five more distribution staff taken on. The total number of staff is now 74 and £2.1m was paid to them in wages and pensions during this accounting period.
The company says it brought into full operation the warehouses from a second site it had taken on the previous year: "These facilities have given the company and network ample capacity to deal with its future plans."
In their report the directors add: "The company's financial strength and operational quality means Palletforce is now widely recognised within the transport industry as one of the top pallet distribution networks in the United Kingdom."
And they have a clear development plan: "The company will continue to attract new members while also improving and expanding services to the existing membership to ensure the Palletforce brand develops in the future."
