Temperature controlled storage and distribution specialist Innovate Logistics says it has achieved 99% picking accuracy after investing £2m in a new multi-site warehouse management system (WMS) from Manhattan Associates. The Manhattan Warehouse Management and Performance Management system, piloted at Innovate's Manton Wood site, has helped it achieve 99.96% picking accuracy there and is now being rolled out across the firm's other UK sites which include Birmingham, Chesterfield, Grantham, Newark, Newcastle, Scunthorpe, Westbury, Worksop and Nottingham.
The system will also help provide enhanced visibility of goods throughout the supply chain, according to Tim Bolam, Innovate's business improvement director. "We needed to upgrade to an integrated platform with a full e-business capability to provide real-time stock visibility for our customers," he says. The Manhattan system meets that requirement and should also allow for better anticipation of stock fluctuations and more proactive planning, he says. Expected rollout date is September 2008.
