Blakeley's Waste Management boss Stephen Blakeley, convicted of criminal damage after trying to forcefully remove a neighbour's car which was blocking an access road, has had his LGV driving licence suspended for 21 days. North Western traffic commissioner Beverley Bell suspended the company's fleet for three days but agreed that Wigan-based Blakeley's could add five trailers to its licence.
She issued the company with a formal warning about its conduct, saying that it had only just managed to retain its repute. At the start of the hearing it was conceded that Blakeley had been convicted of criminal damage after causing £1,700 worth of repairs to the car. The car's owner, Roxie Rowlands, had made representations against the application for additional trailers.
But when the hearing resumed Rowlands did not attend. Bell was told that Rowlands was selling her property to the company. The company pledged that all LGV movements would comply with time restrictions in the planning permission for its premises and that a road sweeper would be used regularly outside the site.
