The new managing director of trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull (UK) is Andreas Schmitz, son of Schmitz Group chairman Dr Heinz Schmitz and great-great-grandson of Melchior Schmitz, who founded the firm in 1892.

Schmitz increased its UK sales of curtainsiders by more than 50% in 2006, and is promising new models at the CV Show. Its modern factory in Harelaw, County Durham built 3,000 trailers last year, and the firm is planning to triple UK sales by 2010.
