Foulger Transport's warehouse plan halted

01 February 2007

Foulger Transport has withdrawn its application for a new 18,000sq m warehouse near Thetford.

The Norfolk haulier withdrew the application to "reconsider its position" after fierce objection from local parish councils, Natural England, Norfolk Wildlife Trust and the Highways Agency.

Most of the concern has centred on road congestion in the area and the impact on the local landscape.

Foulger Transport had  applied for permission to build the warehouse on grassland at Roudham, close to its existing warehouse, because it has run out of space at its Snetterton site. It is understood that the company had been forced to rent short-term storage space in the area.
