Stobart opts for EGR at Euro 4

01 February 2007

Eddie Stobart has made a commitment to EGR technology, having selected Scania as its preferred fleet truck supplier for 2007 and placing an order for over 500 tractors. According to Scania GB's MD Dan Hoij, the decision had a lot to do with Scania's decision to offer EGR. He says: "In addition to whole-life costs, fuel economy and operating efficiency, Scania EGR was a factor strongly in our favour as Eddie Stobart wishes to avoid the additional burden of SCR and AdBlue.

The trucks,  which will be delivered from March at a rate of 44 per month, are mainly Highline-cabbed 6x2/4 twin-steer R-Series tractors. The order also includes a pair of fire appliances for use at Carlisle Airport - which is owned by Stobart's parent group WA Developments.
