A Private Member's Bill designed to give agency workers the same employment rights as full-time and directly employed staff has been backed by the Transport & General Workers Union.
The Temporary Agency Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Bill is proposed by Paul Farrelly, the Labour MP for Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Tony Woodley, general secretary of the T&G , says: "There has been systematic discrimination against agency workers, many of whom are the most vulnerable in our workplaces." Other unions supporting the bill include the GMB and Amicus it needs the support of 100 MPs if it is to progress beyond its second reading on 2 March.
