Motor Transport has learned that Iveco will drop Euro 4 when it launches its face-lifted Stralis range in April. This will coincide with the inclusion of on-board-diagnostics, well ahead of the mandatory October deadline.
The decision to delete Euro 4 from its tractor range is likely to be welcomed by market-leader Daf, which is actively promoting the benefits of early adoption of Euro 5 to the UK truck industry. Almost half of Daf tractor buyers are opting for the cleanest technology.
But the news will be less welcome by MAN, the only truck maker not to have a Euro 5 offering in the UK. Its SCR-equipped Euro 5 trucks are only sold on the Continent.
It is understood that Iveco aims, with its 'Euro 5 as standard' models, to match its competitors' Euro 4 prices.
