Volvo tests its first hybrid refuse trucks in Sweden

26 February 2007

The Swedish cities of Gothenburg and Stockholm will be used for Volvo's first service trials of hybrid-drive refuse vehicles.

Volvo has been given £715,000 in financial support by the Swedish Energy Agency for the three-year project, which was set up to develop hybrid technology for heavy vehicles. Each city will be using a single test vehicle which will be checked regularly by Volvo. The aim of the project is to achieve a 30% fuel saving.

  • Volvo will have a cutaway hybrid  driveline on display at the CV Show in April.
