An Anglesey supplier of refuse collection vehicles has won a £3m contract with a consortium of eight Nottinghamshire councils.
Faun Municipal Vehicles will provide the district councils with 27 Faun VarioPress waste bodies on Mercedes Econic Euro-4 6x4 or 6x2 mid-steer 26-tonne chassis. The bodies will be fitted with Terberg lifters to suit each council's bins and type of waste collection.
The company says this is the first time a number of councils have agreed on a single specification.
Glyn Pilkington, borough public protection officer at Rushcliffe Borough Council, says: "By joining up all the councils have saved around £300,000 in just one year. There's no doubt that working with others makes great financial sense."
Faun MD Andrew Corless says: "It is Faun's aim to be the consortium's partner when the contract is reviewed, and hopefully extended."
