Volkswagen has formalised its approved van conversion offering with a new dual-level scheme, marketed as the 'Engineered for You' and 'Engineered to Go' programmes.
Engineered for You is an accreditation process for the more bespoke conversions it provides an approved list of converters that meet VW's commercial and technical requirements, backed up by an FTA inspection. The list currently includes about 20 accredited converters VW has plans to boost this to 30.
Engineered to Go
is a range of more popular off-the-shelf conversions, likely to be available from stock and sold under a single invoice. Initially, Crafter CR35-based dropside, tipper and Luton van bodies are available, sourced from Ingimex and Boalloy.
They will be covered by a single three-year 'bumper-to-bumper' warranty. The 67 dedicated VW Van Centres will share a central demonstrator fleet.
Sample prices range from an 87hp single-cab MWB dropside at £20,135 to a 161hp LWB Luton at £25,760 (ex-VAT).
