Volumes at network Pall-Ex have been boosted by around 3,000 extra pallets per week thanks to its partnership with Kuehne + Nagel. Pall-Ex members are handling the majority of UK collections and deliveries for K+N as part of its recently launched European Groupage network.
However the service could offer Pall-Ex a ready-made pan-European network for its customers, almost identical to that operated by rival Fortec. Peter Ulber says Pall-Ex has not yet approached him about running a European
service, but adds: "I believe that it makes sense. Pallet networks have to compete with one another and K+N would be an opportunity for Pall-Ex members to offer a European product." The network already runs a five-day-a-week service, Pall-Ex Europe, but K+N's network would give it greater reach.
