DaimlerChrysler UK has developed an air management kit which is said to provide a 6% reduction in fuel consumption when compared with a conventional aerodynamic package.
It was developed in conjunction with Hatcher Components and Cranfield University, which used computational fluid dynamics and wind-tunnel testing to reduce the drag coefficient by around 15%.
The kit is available for the low-roof Axor and will shortly be released for the high-roof model. It is to cost around £1,600.
