Nightfreight, which specialises in express delivery of large and awkwardly shaped consignments, has sharply improved its financial performance in its latest figures.
The company operates a fleet of 1,000 vehicles out of more than 70 sites around the country and employs 2,400 people. It boosted its turnover by over £8m to nearly £132m in the financial year ending 30 November 2006.
A pre-tax loss of £6.3m in 2005 was turned
into a £4.3m profit in 2006 a turnaround which the company attributes to its reorganisation programme.
In the directors' report Nightfreight's board says it expects further turnover and profit increases in 2007, "but not at the levels of the 2006 financial year".
Steve Allen, the group's chief executive, reports: "Throughout the 2006 financial year the company made good progress improving its financial position and commencing its transition to becoming a logistics and solutions business, offering customers innovative integrated services that meet their changing requirements."
