Mercedes-Benz has teamed up with Truckfile to introduce the Electronic Inspection System (EIS) by the end of April. This uses hand-held computers (PDAs) and a central computer to store vital information and legal documentation.
Technicians using EIS complete their inspections as normal, but
record data on their PDAs. This is double-checked before being sent to the web-based system.
Authorised users will be able to access EIS data on a particular truck at any time to prove the vehicle has been properly maintained.
