Top Gear Transport switches to Energy tyres

23 March 2007

Top Gear Transport is switching its 24-strong tractor and 40-strong trailer fleet to Michelin Energy tyres in a move it hopes will equate to annual savings of £26,500. The decision was based on a trial, whereby one 4x2 tractor was fitted with the long-distance tyres. During the course of a year it achieved a fuel saving of 5.9%.

"The results were particularly impressive as the Energy tyres were only fitted to the tractor unit," says Top Gear Transport director Cameron Pickup. "This means  the potential savings for a complete tractor unit and trailer combination are even higher."
