Planning for M42 truck stop recommended

04 April 2007

A planning application from Welcome Break Group to extend LGV parking at the Hopwood Park Services site in Worcestershire which was set to be refused could now be given the green light.

Bromsgrove District Council's planning committee had recommended the application to add 26 more lorry spaces should be refused, but the recommendation was overturned at a meeting this week.

A spokeswoman says: "Members saw the need for a facility of this kind and are minded to support the application  but it needs to go through more hoops and be referred to a regional office before it is fully approved."

Planning officers initially thought the move would impinge on the green belt at the service station, located off junction 2 of the M42.
