DHL Exel buys DAFs for Arvin exhaust contract

16 April 2007

DHL Exel Supply Chain has taken delivery of 29 new Dafs for its Arvin Replacement Products contract.

The trucks, 20 Daf LF 12-tonners and nine Daf CF 18-tonners, will be used by Arvin's light vehicle aftermarket division for the delivery of car parts. They have Boalloy Fastruck bodies, which have been purpose-built to aid the delivery of exhaust systems.

Paul Williams, Transport Manager at Arvin Replacement Products, explains that "exhaust systems are notoriously difficult to  manoeuvre because of their shape and design, with the stillages preventing the driver from being able to access the goods from the rear of the body."

With this in mind the trucks have two drop-down aluminium working platforms on each side, which are accessed from a centrally-positioned step. They can easily be unbolted at the end of the trucks' lives so as not to have a negative affect on residual values.
