30 April 2007

Tip-Ex07, the UK's only show dedicated exclusively to the tipping and bulk transport sectors, promises plenty of new products and services alongside established favourites.

As well as a comprehensive showcase for tipper manufacturers and goods and services suppliers, Tip-Ex07 is somewhere to meet up with friends and colleagues.

Harsh will be using Tip-Ex07 to launch its celebrations of 20 successful years in the UK. "We will be showcasing just how we have developed over the years,"  says MD Carl Hinds. "In 1987 we started out selling stabilised underfloor tipping gears, whereas now we have a complete portfolio from tipping gears to waste and recycling handling products, sheeting systems and cranes."

  • Transport industry equipment supplier Aero will showcase its new steel Easy Cover 500G front-to-back sheeting system, which complements the company's Easy Pull manual system.
  • Two additions to the Air-Weigh Inc range will make their debuts at Tip-Ex. The 5851 is a truck scale for operators using dedicated trailers all the necessary electronics and software are installed in the truck cab. The 5819 is the latest version of tipping trailer payload scales that work without loadcells.
  • Lightweight wheel specialist Alcoa will be showing the WorkHorse, which is made without ventilation holes to protect the disc brakes from sand and gravel. Its maximum load capacity is up 5% on existing models.
  • Autolegs are said to make manual winding of landing legs  a thing of the past. This pneumatic system feeds off the truck's airline to move the legs up or down, avoiding damage and accidents caused by driver error. Autolegs were designed by veteran logistics manager David Fullwood and are manufactured by CHK.
  • Bulk aluminium vehicle manufacturer Benalu will be showing the Siderale, a smooth-sided aluminium semi-trailer that joins thefirm's public works line-up. Volumes range from 22-33m3.
  • Eclipse Automotive Technology's Testpad is a compact, portable, multi-brand diagnostic tool for CVs featuring a wireless Bluetooth connection with a 100m range.
  • Fruehauf's exhibits will reflect a mix of tradition and innovation. Alongside its established bathtub tipping trailer will be a 65yd3 sloping smoothsider and a 42yd3 insulated bathtub model for the construction market. The range has been extended to cater for rigids, with an aluminium body mounted on a Daf chassis, which was first seen in 2006. Debuting at Tip-Ex will be a steel body mounted on an MAN chassis.
  • Fruehauf's sister company, Mx Onboard, will be showing its 'no frills' onboard weigher, the Mx system, which features a remote display and is now available for rigid tippers too. It can be used in conjunction with other manufacturers' cab displays.
  • HMF UK is launching the next generation of grab loaders, the 1244. HMF meets the same B4 standard as the established 1144 and is said to last three times longer. The 1244 features double extension to give an 8.1m reach.
  • Road Tech Computer Systems will be demonstrating its new tachograph software, Tachomaster, which is said to analyse digital cards and analogue charts in minutes. Tachomaster automatically alerts operators to any infringements and offers a wide choice of reports.
  • Chemtec will be at Tip-Ex with its latest forecourt range of Karcher steam cleaners and vacuums, RBS brush washers and parts washers. Its Ice Blaster, with 1,000 and 10,000lit/hr water recycling units, will be shown at work, as will its steam cleaners, sweepers and vacuums.

  • STAS, the tipper and moving-floor trailer manufacturer, will be talking to operators about the launch of its dealer network that came on line in January 2007. The network comprises Stead-plan in Clitheroe, Lancs Thompson's Trailer Technologies in Croydon, Surrey Kelly Holdings in Malmesbury, Wilts and TC Trailers in Dublin.

  • Wheelsure will be demonstrating its award- winning nut locking device, which is designed to stop nuts being loosened by vibration. It comprises a modified bolt with reverse thread and a patented counter-threaded locking cap that fits over the original nut. At the first sign of any movement the locking cap automatically tightens against the nut, maintaining stud tension and wheel security.
  • Wire3 says its range can increase operators' efficiency. It includes fixed-cost vehicle tracking via GPS/GPRS PDA job allocation systems and sat-nav. Its Sat3 vehicle tracking system offers real-time information in the form of live on-screen mapping, or as part of Wire3's reporting screen.
  • DaimlerChrysler Trailer Axle Systems will be showing what is said to be the world's first trailer axle that stores air for the brake systems and air suspension in the axle housing. Doing away with the air reservoir on its nine-tonne axle saves space and cuts the trailer's weight by up to 40kg.
