Licence granted on condition

02 May 2007

A company formed by a director of Hengoed-based One Way Transport, now in liquidation, has been granted an O-licence on a number of conditions and the production of satisfactory financial evidence. Beaufort Transport had applied for a licence for six vehicles before Welsh deputy traffic commissioner Roger Seymour.

Traffic examiner Mark Cole said One Way Transport had not been using its specified operating centre, had operated more vehicles than had been authorised and there had been drivers'  hours offences. Director and transport manager Michael Passe, sole director of Beaufort Transport, said he was not aware that offences were being committed and the employment of One Way's owner Jeff Jones had been terminated.

Revoking One Way's licence, Seymour said he found Passe's repute to be severely tarnished but he was not taking it away. He granted Beaufort a licence but made it conditional upon Jones not being employed in any capacity, the contracting-out of vehicle maintenance roller brake tests carried out every six weeks and Passe going on a refresher training course. He asked Passe to produce adequate financial evidence in 28 days and then every three months, and directed that VOSA carries out checks within six months.
