Symphony's Euro 5 Mercedes won't get RPC

02 May 2007

Kitchen, bathroom and bedroom supplier Symphony is disappointed to learn that the 19 Euro 5 Mercedes-Benz Actros 1836 rigids it has ordered will not qualify for a VED rebate. The 18-tonne drawbar outfits, 12 of which have already gone on the road, do not have on-board diagnostics - so therefore will lose out on the £370 cut in excise duty introduced by the chancellor in the last Budget. However Symphony's contract manager Patrick McPhillips, says he is delighted with the trucks, which join an  80-strong predominantly Renault fleet run by C Butt. He predicts they will each consume 2,143 litres of AdBlue per annum (based on an estimated annual mileage of 100,000 miles). Symphony bulk-buys AdBlue from Air1 in 5,000-litre consignments.
