Paneltex showed the first body it has built on the new-shape Mercedes-Benz Sprinter for internet retailer Ocado. The Kingston-upon-Hull based company has supplied every single Ocado body, and this is the first of an order for 100.
"Switching from the old Sprinter to the new Sprinter was a bigger job than you might expect," says commercial manager Andy Lacey. He explains that Ocado insists on a 1,100kg payload, but the new Sprinter chassis cab is 100kg heavier than its predecessor.
"We managed to do it," he says, "but hopefully we won't have to do it again."
