Parcels firm City Link has taken a massive step towards full integration of Target Express with an extensive rebranding of all Target's fleet.
It bought Target for £210m in December last year and the merged company has been trading solely as City Link since the beginning of this month and the City Link brand is now on all the group's 4,350 vehicles.
"There was only a 2% overlap of customers, so it was a very good fit," says Michael Cooke, City Link managing director. The company now has a single product range sold by one sales force.
The full integration of Target will be completed by the end of 2008. Cooke will be reviewing the network which now stands at 108, including some 38 former Target depots. This will take time as "with 300,000 parcels a night we are going to make sure that there are no problems," he says.
City Link has also been buying out its franchises, which previously "owned" their own customers. This process will be completed by the summer, he says.
