The Transport and General Workers' Union (T&G) has merged with Amicus to form a 'super union' named Unite - the UK's biggest union with two million members, including 80,000 drivers and another 60,000 transport workers.
A T&G spokeswoman says the new name will be phased in on the unions' websites, in literature and in day-to-day business over the next 18 months, during which time the unions will unify offices which perform the same functions.
