DHL sparks up Heathrow

29 May 2007

DHL Exel has won a £10m contract renewal to operate the Heathrow Consolidation Centre (HCC) for the next three years. The HCC was set up in 2001 it says it has dramatically reduced congestion at the airport by cutting the number of deliveries required to service the retailers operating there. DHL Exel is also introducing a 9.0-tonne electric delivery vehicle. Paul Richardson, managing director of the DHL Exel division which runs the centre, says "At a time when reducing vehicle emissions is a  key objective of airports globally, it is increasingly important to provide our customer, BAA, with new initiatives that reduce environmental impact."
