Wiseman runs LNG power for trunking

29 May 2007

Robert Wiseman Dairies is running a pair of Clean Air Power-converted Daf Dual-Fuel gas/diesel trucks. The liquid natural gas (LNG)-powered CF85 4x2 tractors, which are used for trunking in the north west of England and Scotland, were purchased as part of the company's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and fuel costs.

John Kirk, group transport manager at Robert Wiseman Dairies, praises the new arrivals to the 1,250-strong fleet. He says the drivers are impressed with quiet motorway  driving, and he likes the way in which they can "seamlessly switch to diesel if there is an issue with gas supply".

Kirk says it is too early to determine by how much emissions and fuel costs have been reduced, but says he will carry out a thorough review after six months, at which point he may consider adding more Dual-Fuel trucks to the distinctive fleet.
