Difficult conditions clip Bird's wings

31 May 2007

Birmingham-based Bird's Groupage Services saw turnover and profits fall, with blame apportioned to "difficult trading conditions". Turnover for the transport and warehousing firm fell 3.6% to £15.2m for year to January 2007, compared with 2006's results. Pre-tax profits more than halved to £522,000, with operating profit falling by a similar proportion to £610,000.

A company statement says: "The directors consider the turnover and results for the year to be satisfactory in view of the  difficult trading conditions that the company has experienced in the year and expect current levels of turnover and profitability to be maintained."
