Fielding son loses licence

01 June 2007

The son of RF Fielding (Cheshire) MD Reuben Fidler Fielding, who lost his licence a year ago, has also had his licence revoked after North Western traffic commissioner Beverly Bell heard information that his father was a partner in his new business. Bell said the revocation would enable Reuben James Fielding to make a complete restart with a new company.

RF Fielding lost its licence in April 2006 after 43 drivers were convicting of breaking drivers hours and tachograph rules. The company's  directors, with the exception of Fielding Jnr, were disqualified from obtaining a licence indefinitely.

It was argued that Fielding Snr had no involvement in the new business, but the accountants had kept him as partner for means of paying him for the business. It had been decided over the past few days to transfer the business into a new limited company, RF Fielding (Hay & Straw), with Fielding Jnr the sole director and shareholder.

Bell said she was worried that the use of the existing licence was to let part of RF Fielding (Cheshire) continue. The father was drawing money from the business and the accounts showed the vehicles did not just carry hay and straw. Bell said it was clear there had been an ongoing partnership the father had a one-third share and the son a two-thirds share.
