Freightliner tractor meets Euro standard

06 June 2007

Cascadia, Freightliner's replacement for its Century and Columbia Class tractor units, boasts a Euro crash-tested cab and is ready for SCR emissions control technology. This gives Daimler a bonneted truck range that could be sold straight into European markets.

The new Freightliner will also be the first recipient of Daimler's global heavy truck engine platform (HDEP) which will be launched in the US in August. The Cascadia will be offered with a choice of the DDC Series 60, Caterpillar  C15 or MBE 4000 engines.

It is not yet clear whether the Powershift transmission will be offered to US operators. If so, the Cascadia could be almost globally compliant.
