Operators unprepared for LEZ

13 June 2007

A study by aftermarket exhaust company Eminox shows that 62% of transport operators have no plans in place for dealing with the upcoming London low-emission zone (LEZ). The LEZ, which comes into force in 2008, means many operators will have to retrofit or renew their vehicles to meet the required Euro-3 emission levels. Mike Galey, director of marketing at Eminox, says: "We conducted this survey to evaluate the level of demand and put plans in place to meet the needs of operators.

"We identified  a clear need to provide operators with information and advice to help them with the LEZ." The survey shows that 30% of respondents do not think they will be affected by the LEZ - though many are unaware the zone extends almost all the way to the M25. It also shows that less than 1% of operators have plans to retrofit their vehicles to meet the required standard.

As well as Eminox, Astra and GAT UK can provide retrofit emission-reduction systems to ensure LEZ compliance. Contact details:
