Hauliers making up the Scottish Joint Industrial Council (JIC) have given notice to the TGWU section of the Unite trade union to terminate their involvement after a poor showing of employers. The decision, effective from June 30, means Scottish hauliers must rely on individual agreements with their workforce on terms and conditions. The Road Haulage Association's Phil Flanders, secretary of the Scottish JIC, says: "Hauliers will have to do their own thing. The industry doesn't want them anymore."
