NYK predicts 'strong' year in 2007

Thursday 14 June 2007 12:00

NYK Logistics says the first two months of the 2007/08 financial year are looking strong - with a growth 22% up on the same period the previous year.

Chief executive Ian Veitch says the merger of NYK Logistics (UK) Consumer and Retail into the business is pretty much a "done deal" and has proved to be a "huge success". Turnover for the year to March 2007 for the combined business rose 11.2% to £337m while pre-tax profit rose to £5.8m from £5.3m.

Veitch says the company has won a number of key contracts over the past 12 months, including a recent £6m deal from AstraZeneca. NYK Logistics is focusing on specific markets such as automotive manufacturing, healthcare and pharmaceutical along with retail rather than looking at takeovers.
