Freight Transport Association (FTA) chief Richard Turner has received an OBE in the latest Queen’s birthday honours, for services to transport.
Turner, who steps down from his post at the end of next week, says he is “really chuffed” at the recognition, but believes the gong is particularly important in highlighting the role of FTA. “It means freight is starting to be seen in a different way – as an economic entity in its owns right,” he says. Turner received confirmation of his award when the honours list was published last Saturday. He has been with the FTA for 34 years, with nearly seven as chief executive.
